Who Dew is for, and who it is not

Services

Ways to work together

Each service carries a Korean word, one our families use, and the idea behind how we work.

For you

One-on-one, in the office or by video.

  • Individual therapy

50 minutes for one adult. Nunchi is the skill of reading the room; here you can stop doing it for an hour.

  • First session

60 minutes. Annyeong means hello. Minho explains how he works and the limits of confidentiality, and listens.

For you and the people close to you

Two people, or an adult and a parent, in the language that comes easiest to each.

  • Adult children and parents

80 minutes. Jeong is the tie that holds a family together, even in the hard years.

  • Couples therapy

80 minutes for two. Uri means us: language, in-laws, money and what each of you was taught about love.

Minho Seo

He sees adults, couples, and adults with their parents, in Korean, in English or in both.

He sees

  • Adults between two languages and two sets of expectations
  • Couples who speak Korean, English or both at home
  • Adults and their parents, in the same room

How it starts

Three steps before we sit down

  • 01

    Write or call

Tell us what times suit you and which language you prefer. You do not have to say why.

  • 02

    Your estimate, in writing

If you pay without insurance, we send your good faith estimate before the first session, so nothing is a surprise.

  • 03

    The first session

Sixty minutes to get to know each other. At the end, you both decide whether to continue.

How fees work

The answers to what nearly everyone asks before a first session.

  • Insurance we work with

Dew is out of network with every insurance plan, so you pay for each session yourself. Dew does not take Medicare or Medicaid. If you want a therapist who bills your plan, we will gladly share the names of colleagues.

    • Out of network with insurance plans

    • No Medicare or Medicaid

  • If you pay yourself

You pay at the end of each session by card, including HSA and FSA cards. Your fee is given to you in writing before you start. A limited number of reduced-fee spots may be open; ask how to request one. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and kind of session, to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it pays anything; ask it before you start.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written good faith estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

We do not check benefits, because we do not bill your plan. To find out whether your plan reimburses out-of-network care, call it before the first session and ask about out-of-network mental health benefits.

  • What the first visit includes

Sixty minutes, in the office or by video. Minho explains how he works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and he listens. Then you both decide whether to continue.

Questions

What nearly everyone asks

Do you take my insurance?

Dew is out of network with every plan, so you pay for each session yourself, and we give you an itemized receipt in case your plan reimburses. We do not take Medicare or Medicaid.

What is a good faith estimate?

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 60 minutes. Minho explains how he works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and he listens. At the end you both decide whether to continue.

Are you licensed where I live?

Minho is licensed in New Jersey. By video he sees people who are in New Jersey during the session. If you are elsewhere, we will help you find someone licensed where you live.

What do I do in a crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your therapist may have to tell others. We explain this in writing before you start.
