Your first session
Annyeong: what happens when we meet
Annyeong means hello. The first session is sixty minutes to get to know each other, with no pressure to say everything at once.
Sixty minutes, in the office or by video
Korean, English or both
You decide at the end whether to continue

Step by step
Before, during and after
Before
We confirm your time and your language. If you pay without insurance, we send your good faith estimate in writing first. Intake forms are on the practice's own portal, linked in your confirmation.
During
Minho explains how he works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy. Then he listens.
Confidentiality
What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: a serious risk of harm, or suspected abuse of a child or an older adult.
After
You both decide whether to continue. If you do not, you owe no explanation, and we will gladly share the names of colleagues.

Questions
Three questions about the first session
What happens in the first session?
It lasts 60 minutes. Minho explains how he works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and he listens. At the end you both decide whether to continue.
What is confidential, and what are the limits?
What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, your therapist may have to tell others. We explain this in writing before you start.
How often and how long are sessions?
Individual sessions are 50 minutes; family and couples sessions are 80. Most people begin weekly. Your therapist sets the pace with you, and Dew does not promise a number of sessions.
